BESSEMER, Ala. - Texas A&M-Kingsville's women's golf team jumped four total places in the team overall standings at the end of the second day of the PGA Works Collegiate Championship, on Wednesday afternoon at Shoal Creek Club.
The Javelinas started the day tied for eighth place before carding the third lowest team score in the second round, shooting a combined 320 (+32) on the par 72, 5,969-yard course.
For the second day in a row, freshman Victoria Patterson led the way with the lowest score of the day at 78 (+6), matched by fellow freshman Cesilee Mokry who improved to by three strokes compared to her opening round 81 also shooting a 78 in round two.
Patterson now sits tied for 13th place on the individual leaderboard, a six-place improvement from day one, with Mokry holding sole possession of 21st place, a 17-place improvement after starting the day tied for 38th.
Alessia Rojas, also jumped up eight places in the individual standings finishing tied for 17th after carding a second round 79 (+7) in a round that included back-to-back birdies on holes three and four, and another on the 11th.
Rojas also now holds the best scoring average on par-fives for the tournament, averaging 4.57 strokes scoring three under par so far.
Katelyn Habib and Kristin Grabow both shot second round 85's (+13) with both collecting one birdie on their rounds to round out the day for TAMUK.
The Javelinas will start the final day of competition in the final pairing at 9 a.m. sitting 22 strokes behind third place Howard.
