Love had two of the 3-point baskets while Jones and Montalvo each hit one.

East Central would get to within seven on four different occasions, twice in the final minute, but Montalvo made four consecutive free throws to seal the victory.

A&M-Kingsville shot 57 percent from the floor in the second half and 47 percent for the game while holding East Central to just under 36 percent.

Love and Mulkey each set career highs with eight rebounds apiece.

The Javelinas made 7 of 14 3-point shots while East Central was just 5 for 20.

The game was tied at 15-15 when the Hogs went on a 7-0 run to grab a 22-15 lead with 2:22 left in the half.

A 3-point basket by Jones and back-to-back jumpers by Mulkey sparked the run.

The Javelinas held the Tigers to just under 26 percent shooting from the floor over the first 20 minutes and forced 11 turnovers. The 20 points were the fewest allowed by the Javelinas in a half this season.
