Texas A&M - Kingsville Athletics

Alan Harwell is entering his third year with Texas A&M-Kingsville athletics as the Assitant Athletic Director for External Relations.

In this role, Harwell works with athletic corporate sponsors, alumni, donors, boosters.and former Javelina athletes to expand the reach of Javelina athletics across the south Texas region.

For nearly 40 years, Harwell was a familiar face on South Texas television spending 27 years at KIII-TV and nine years at KRIS-TV with stops in Victoria, Tyler and Youngstown, Ohio. A ten time winner of the Caller-Times “Best of the Best” Reader’s Choice Award, he retired from sportscasting in August 2022. Shortly thereafter he was selected as the university’s new Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations. 

He received his B.S. in Secondary Education from Texas A&I University in 1983 with teaching fields in Journalism and speech.

Harwell has been married to his wife Lisa for 29 years and are parents to three children, Jordan, George & Alyssa and are members of Annaville Baptist Church.
