Toki And Scott Play Well In Final Game, But Javelinas Fall To Wildcats
Toki had 21 points and 10 rebounds on 9 of 14 shooting to lead the Javelinas. It was her fifth double-double of the season. Scott had 13 points, three rebounds and six steals.
Sophomore Reagan Sutton added a career-high 12 points and Felicia Soza (Beeville) finished in double figures with 10.
The Javelinas held the lead in the first three minutes of the game, but ACU grabbed the lead for good at the 16:28 mark of the first half, stretched the lead to as many as 12 in the first half before taking a 38-29 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
A&M-Kingsville scored the first four points of the second half, all by Scott, to cut the lead to five. The Wildcat responded by pushing the lead to 14, 52-38, but the Javelinas rallied, outscoring the Wildcats 10-4 to cut the lead to eight, 56-48 with 12:46 left in the game.
The lead was still just eight, 62-54 with just over eight minutes left, but the Wildcats closed the game strong, outscoring the Javelinas by 10 points the rest of the way.
A&M-Kingsville turned the ball over just 12 times while forcing 20 and making 18 of 21 free throws for 85 percent.
But the Javelinas made just 4 of 21 3-point shots and was outrebounded 48-38.
A&M-Kingsville finished the season 7-20 overall and 3-11 in Lone Star Conference South Division play.
