KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – Texas A&M-Kingsville head softball coach Ricki Rothbauer signed a pair of high school players and one college transfer on Monday. Katrisha Arocha, Chastity Estrello and Megan McDonald will all join the program for the 2013 season. Arocha is a 5-2 pitcher-outfielder from Elmendorf, TX who is transferring from Mississippi Valley State University. She appeared in seven games in relief posting a 1-0 record with a 1.00 earned run average and two saves in 14.0 innings of work. She was a four-time all-district player in high school playing her first two years at Southside HS and her final two years at Southwest HS. As a senior, she earned Texas 5A All-State honors as a pitcher. She was named the 5A All-Area Pitcher of the Year and the San Antonio Express-News Super Team Pitcher. During her junior season she was the District 29-5A Most Valuable Player and the 5A All-Area Pitcher of the Year. She earned honorable mention all-district honors as a pitcher during her sophomore year and first team all-district honors as an outfielder in her freshman campaign. She compiled a 58-10 record, 519 strikeouts and a 1.08 ERA in her final two years of high school. She is the daughter of Joe and Gloria Arocha and plans to study kinesiology with a minor in English language arts. Estrello is a 5-6 second baseman from Richwood, TX where she played for Brazoswood High School. She helped lead the team to a Region 3 Area Championship. She was a Texas Scholar and National Hispanic Institute Most Distinguished honoree. She is the daughter of Dominique and Amber Estrello and plans to study sociology with a minor in psychology. The final signee is Kingsville native Megan McDonald who starred at Santa Gertrudis Academy High School. She was a four-time all-district outfielder who earned Third Team All-State and Third Team All-South Texas honors as a senior. She was a Corpus Christi Hooks South Texas Preseason High School All-Star team member heading into her senior year. She helped lead Santa Gertrudis to three straight Regional Final appearances. She is the daughter of Todd and Kathy McDonald and plans to study communication disorders. #### pr12301smm |
