Softball Picks Up Alvin CC Transfer |

KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – Texas A&M-Kingsville softball coach Ricki Rothbauer added Alvin Community College transfer Adela Gomez to the 2012 recruiting class on Thursday bringing the total to five signees for the 2013 season. Gomez, a first baseman from Alvin, TX, played scholastically at Alvin High School. She helped lead AHS to the 2008 Texas 5A State Championships and a 2010 District 24-5A championship. She was a two-time First Team All-District 24-5A selection. After high school Gomez went to Alvin Community College and had two successful seasons. As a freshman she hit .341 with 29 RBI’s, a .476 slugging percentage and .463 on-base percentage. During her sophomore campaign she hit .301 with a .496 slugging percentage and 25 RBI’s en route to earning Second Team All-Region XIV South Zone honors. She led the team to a pair of Region XIV Tournament appearances. Gomez is the daughter of Pete Gomez and Melissa and Jeff Thomson and plans to study kinesiology. Her sister, Meghan, played softball at Southeastern Louisiana. #### pr12282smm |
