KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team is hosting their final home series of the year this weekend against Lone Star Conference foe Midwestern State. The three-game series begins on Friday with a doubleheader at 4 p.m. The series will conclude on Saturday with a single game at 1 p.m.

Friday will be Mother-Daughter day at Hubert Field, sponsored by El Dorado Mexican Restaurant. All mothers and daughters will be admitted free to the games when entering together. Saturday will be Strike Out Pink Day, sponsored by Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg.

The Javelinas are fighting to make their first postseason tournament appearance under head coach Ricki Rothbauer. They are one game behind Cameron for the eighth and final spot in the tournament.

Last time out the Javelinas split a doubleheader with their LSC rivals, Incarnate Word. They lost 7-4, but bounced back behind the strong pitching performance of Denise Arnold (Katy, TX/McLennan CC) in the second game to win 5-0.

The Lady Mustangs are 20-20 overall with a 10-10 record in the LSC, which has them in sixth place. They’re on a hot streak right now, riding a five-game winning streak with sweeps of Tarleton State and Cameron.

In Courtney Bingham, they have the top hitter in the conference. She boasts a .444 batting average with 56 hits, 22 RBIs, 14 doubles and four homeruns. She also has the league’s top slugging percentage at .667.
