RICHARDSON, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville football team moved up one spot in the weekly American Football Coaches’ Association poll to #6 in the nation. In addition, sophomore wide receiver Robert Armstrong (Cuero/Cuero HS) and sophomore punter Angel Millan (Edinburg/Economedes HS) were named Lone Star Conference Player of the Week. The Javelinas are receiving 576 votes in the AFCA poll after defeating then #22 Central Washington last week. The top five teams in the nation are Minnesota-Duluth, Northwest Missouri State, Abilene Christian, Grand Valley State and North Alabama. Armstrong was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week. He scored the final two touchdowns of the game for the Javelinas despite only having 41 yards combined rushing and receiving in a 21-10 win at Central Washington. In the second quarter, his 15-yard touchdown reception gave the Hoggies a 14-0 lead. In the final scoring drive of the game he carried the ball three times on jet sweeps. He picked up six yards on each of the first two attempts and then turned the corner and dove to the corner of the end zone on the third attempt to provide the team some breathing room with 6:15 left in the game. Millan was named the LSC Special Teams Player of the Week. He averaged 45.0 yards per punt on his three attempts. His biggest play of the game came when he scrambled for 30 yards on a fake punt allowing the team to run out the clock in the fourth quarter. The run on 4th-and-3 at midfield allowed to Javelinas to hang on to a 21-10 advantage at Central Washington. The Javelinas are back in action on Saturday against Minot State as part of New York Life Javelina Hall of Fame and Reunion Weekend. #### pr11293-smm |
