  KINGSVILLE, TEXAS – Friday and Saturday will be a busy two days for Texas A&M-Kingsville fans.  The baseball team is hosting West Texas A&M on Friday at 3 o’clock and Saturday at 1 o’clock while the softball team is hosting Eastern New Mexico on Friday at 5 o’clock and Saturday at noon.
   
On Saturday both teams will be hosting community events.  It will be Father-Son Day at Nolan Ryan Field with all fathers and sons being allowed free into the games.  Saturday will also be Women and Girls in Sports Day at Hubert Field where all women and girls will be admitted free of charge.
   
The baseball team enters their Lone Star Conference matchup with a 12-10 overall record and an 8-8 mark in conference play.  Seniors Travis Earles (Houston/Cy-Falls HS) and Cilfton Thomas (San Diego, CA/El Cajon Valley HS) lead the team on offense.  Earles is hitting .410 with four home runs and 22 RBI’s while Thomas, the reigning Diamond Hitter of the Week, is batting .349 with seven doubles, 13 stolen bases and 21 runs scored.  The Hoggies have three pitchers with identical 3-1 records in David de Leon (Corpus Christi/Calallen HS), Dan Rogers (Redwood City, CA/Woodside HS) and Clay Stephens (Houston/Bellaire HS).  Freshman Taylor Taska (The Woodlands/The Woodlands HS) leads the team with six saves.
   
The softball team opens LSC South Division play this weekend.  They are currently 6-11 on the season.  Senior All-American Cassie Anderson (Splendora/Splendora HS) leads the offense with a .423 batting average and .885 slugging percentage.  Senior Dalia Marroquin (Brownsville/Harlingen HS) is hitting at a .400 clip while Lindsey Brown (Spring/Spring HS) leads the team with 19 RBI’s.  Brown is also the team’s top pitcher with a 3.34 ERA and a 5-6 record.  She is the reigning LSC South Pitcher of the Week.
