  RICHARDSON, TEXAS – Texas A&M-Kingsville junior Connell Davis (Portland/Gregory-Portland HS) was named the Lone Star Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week on Thursday by the conference office.
   
Davis was a three-time winner at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas.  He won the long jump with a NCAA Division II provisional leap of 23-5.5.  He came back and won the 200 meters in a time of 22.19 while running into a headwind.  He also ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay that clocked a 3:21.17.
