Football Coach Candidate Robert Rubel On Campus Monday

(11/27/06)

Tabor College (Kan.) head coach and Texas A&M-Kingsville head football coach candidate Robert Rubel was on campus today to visit with the search committee, university officials and local constituents.
“This is one of the best jobs in the country, hands down,” said Rubel. “It’s an honor for me to be considered for this position. Texas A&M-Kingsville is in the best recruiting areas in the country. If I am blessed to be named head coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville, we will be active on defense and fun to watch on offense.”
Rubel led Tabor College to a 6-4 record in his first year as head coach despite losing 25 seniors and 15 starters from the year before.
Rubel has coaching experience in the Lone Star Conference, serving as an assistant at Abilene Christian in 2004 and 2005.
Rubel has also been a collegiate assistant at Oklahoma Panhandle, North Dakota College of Science and Cisco Junior College.
Rubel is a native of Abilene and a graduate of Cooper High School. He played football and received his undergraduate degree from Midwestern State.
