Javelinas crack top-ten in final ITA regional rankings

TAMUK finishes 2023 Spring season ranked No. 8 in South Central Region

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team cracked the top-ten of the in the final ITA Regional Team Rankings, finishing ranked No. 8 in the South Central Region. 

Meanwhile, the Javelinas' Alessa Maier also cracked the top-ten in the singles rankings finishing tied for sixth with Anastasia Uspenskaia of Cameron. 

Maier, who recently reached a new program high of No. 44 in the national rankings for Division II Spring 2023 season with a singles record of 13-4 against NCAA competition, 8-2 in LSC play while playing all her 27 matches at the No. 1 spot for the Javelinas. Maier also recorded two wins over nationally ranked opponents, ending regular season play, winning nine out of her last ten matches.    

Maier and doubles partner Milou Ter Morsche finish 2023 ranked at No. 10 in the ITA Doubles Rankings for the region as the pair went 10-4 on the season and 5-2 in LSC play, ending regular season play on a four-match winning streak.
