KINGSVILLE, Texas — On Tuesday, coachÂ
Tanya Allen-Gonzalez announced the 2023 Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball schedule which will see the team host a pair of tournaments and visit Spearfish, South Dakota, before beginning their Lone Star Conference campaign.Â
Â
The Javelinas will start things off by inviting four squads into the Steinke Physical Education Center for the TAMUK Invitational. The season will begin on Friday, Sep. 1, with the team taking on Ouachita Baptist at 11 a.m. before battling CSU-Pueblo at 5 p.m. That Saturday, the Javs will wrap up the tournament, first facing New Mexico Highlands at 12:30 p.m., ahead of a 6:30 p.m. matchup with Quincy.Â
Â
From there, the Javelinas will head to the Mount Rushmore State to compete in a tournament hosted by Black Hills State. Their first contest is slated for noon on Friday, Sep. 8. against South Dakota School of Mines, ahead of a matchup with Northeastern State. TAMUK will take on the University of Mary the following day before battling the hosts to close things out.Â
Â
The Javs will then host a trio of LSC programs in the league's annual crossover tournament, which pits organizational teams against each other in a set of nonconference contests. Angelo State will first take on TAMUK at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 14, before the Javelinas face St Mary's at 6 p.m. on Friday and UAFS at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Â
A 16-game conference slate then begins with the only interruption occurring on Wednesday, Sep. 27, as the Javelinas visit the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building for a matchup with Texas A&M-International that won't contribute to the league standings.Â
The top eight LSC programs will advance to the 2023 Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament, which spans from Nov. 16-18 at the site of the highest seed, ahead of the 2023 NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament on Nov.30-Dec. 2.
