Â
The 11,333 Javelina faithful that packed Kingsville on Homecoming Saturday witnessed a complete game offensively and defensively, highlighted by the defense collecting three fumbles and an interception (
Forrest Jones). Jones added a forced fumble and fumble recovery,
Tommy Chavez returned a fumble for 28 yards and
Jovan Thomas tallied a sack and two tackles for a loss.
Alex Kuyinu led all players with 2.5 TFLs.

Â
The win snapped Texas A&M-Kingsville's nine-game home conference losing streak.
Â
First Quarter
In the opening drive, Carr found
Jordan Thomas for 36 yards and a score to cap off an eight-play, 80-yard drive with 11:44 left.
Â
In its next drive, A&M-Kingsville rode the back – literally – of Pelrean, who scored on a four-yard checker to take a 14-0 lead.
Â
Julio De la Garza surprised all at Javelina Stadium with a successful onside kick that was recovered by you guessed it… De la Garza.
Â
Second Quarter
Lopez and Pelrean did most of the damage in Kingsville's first drive of the second quarter, rushing for a combined 53 yards as Lopez capped off with six points on a four-yard rush with 7:35 remaining.
Â
Jones picked off UTPB late in the first half and returned the INT 32 yards, which led to a Carr touchdown to
Torrey Thomas with 14 ticks remaining in the half as the Hogs went into the half with a 28-0 lead.
Â
Third Quarter
The Falcons scored on their first drive of the second half but the Javelinas responded with a TD of their own as Lopez capped off an eight-play drive to extend the lead to 35-7 at the 6:38 mark. The scoring continued on a fourth-down fumble by UT Permian Basin that was returned by Chavez to the UTPB-3. Pelrean scored on the very next play.
Â
On the kickoff,
Kuziah Ferebee forced a fumble for the second consecutive game and gave the Hogs great field position for a quick score as Carr tossed an 18-yard pass to
Anthony Autry with 3:03 remaining in the third.
Â
Fourth Quarter
The Hogs finished a nine-play, 83-yard drive with the second rushing touchdown of the game for Pelrean for a 56-7 cushion.
Â
In the mid stages of the final frame, Jones forced a fumble and recovered it as the Javelinas won back-to-back Lone Star Conference games for the first time since wins versus Angelo State University and Eastern New Mexico University in October 2012.
Â
Next up for the Hogs is a road contest at Tarleton State University Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. Texas A&M-Kingsville defeated the Texans in its last matchup at Memorial Stadium.
