KINGSVILLE, Texas (Football) –
A late fumble allowed Angelo State University (2-3, 1-2 LSC) to escape Javelina Stadium with a 22-21 victory over Texas A&M University-Kingsville (2-3, 0-3 LSC) Saturday evening.

With 3:28 remaining in the game, the Rams recovered the fumble in the end zone. Prior to that play, Myles Carr found an open Torrey Thomas for a touchdown to take a 21-16 lead with 8:43 left to play.

Carr finished 16-of-29 with a throwing touchdown and rushed for one. Nick Pelrean rushed 11 times for 47 yards and a score and Anthony Autry finished with six receptions for 105 yards. Tristan Hernandez pinned two of his punts inside the 20. Defensively, Quinton Parks registered three quarterback hurries and ZeMarcus Green led all players with 13 total tackles and two QB hurries. Peyton Tilley tallied a sack for six yards.

First Quarter
Angelo State settled for a field goal with 9:41 remaining in the opening stanza but the Javelinas responded with a nine-play, 60-yard drive, capped off by Pelrean's five yard rush into the end zone. In the drive, Carr connected with Autry for 11 yards and with full back Kyle Williams for 18 yards.

The Javelinas added points on Carr's 1-yard rush after a sensational grab by Autry – a tiptoe 33 yard catch on the right hash to bring the ball to the one. The score gave Texas A&M-Kingsville a 14-3 lead.

Second Quarter
Unfortunately, a bad snap on a punt gave Angelo State great field positioning and the Rams scored twice in the second to head into the half with a 16-14 lead.

Green led all players with eight first-half tackles.

Third Quarter
A defensive battle featured seven new drives as the third quarter was a scoreless one.

Fourth Quarter
Revitalized by a 40-yard reception by Autry (from Carr), the Javelinas entered Angelo State territory with just under 12 minutes remaining.

On 4th-and-2 and 10:11 left to play, the Javelinas converted on the fifth catch by Autry. Greg Pitre followed with a 19-yard rush to bring the Hogs into the five. What looked to be a quick snap with 12 men on the field was followed up with a two-yard touchdown throw from Carr to Thomas as A&M-Kingsville regained the lead – 21-16 – with 8:43 remaining.

A fumble recovery in the end zone allowed Angelo State to regain the lead, 22-21, and the Rams successfully rushed for three yards on a 4th-and-1 play to clinch the win.
