A native of Detroit, Texas, Stewardson was a three-year letterwinner at the University of Texas where she received her bachelor’s degree and she received her master’s degree from Harvard. She attended Texas A&M her freshman year.

In addition to participating in track and cross country for the Longhorns, Stewardson was on the powerlifting squad that placed fifth in the nation.

Stewardson did graduate course work at Adams (Colo.) State and has been named an emerging junior elite coach by the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Track and Field. She has worked at the University of Oregon and Francie Larrieu-Smith camps.

Stewardson was a volunteer men’s and women’s cross country coach at Harvard in 2007, was head men’s cross country and track and field coach at Colby (Kan.s) Community College in 2008 and has been the men’s and women’s distance coach at Neosha County (Kan.) Community College the past year.

While at Texas, she was a six-time Academic All-Big XII cross country and track and field honoree. She had a 4.0 grade point average in her undergraduate studies.

In high school, she was a four-year qualifier for the state meet in cross country and qualified for state in the 800-meter run and in powerlifting.
