Ways To Give

Your gift can be designated in the following ways:

  • Annual Giving
  • Endowment
  • Capital Projects
  • Planned Giving

The difference between an annual gift and an endowed gift is that the annual gift is used immediately and needs to be renewed each year, while an endowed gift provides a source of perpetual support. When a gift is made to the endowment, it is invested for long-term growth. The earnings generated by the investment are used to support the scholarship or operation needs in the area you choose to endow.

  1. Cash Donations - Most gifts to the Javelina Club take this form and it is as easy as writing a check or using your MasterCard, American Express or Visa. Checks should be made payable to "Javelina Club." Annual gifts help grow and enhance Javelina Athletics.

Contributions can be unrestricted or designated to the sport of your choice. An unrestricted gift will go where it is needed most - towards scholarships, academic support and recruiting. When you designate your gift to a particular sport, it will go towards the scholarship needs of that program.
  2. Matching Gifts - Many companies will match your contribution to the Javelina Club. Submit your company's matching gift form with your contribution and it can significantly increase your benefits associated with giving.
  3. Gifts in Kind - Gifts of goods or services can be a great financial assistance to Javelina Athletics while offering the donor a tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift. Please consult your tax advisor and contact the Javelina Club office for further information.
  4. Securities - You may eliminate paying capital gains tax and receive an income tax charitable deduction for gifts of long term appreciated securities.
  5. Lifetime Levels - The Team Behind the Team The Texas A&I and Legends Societies are comprised of friends of Javelina Athletics who go the extra mile and believe a strong athletics program increases the University's national visibility, and enhances individual character and community spirit. Methods of Giving include bequests, trusts, annuities, directed retirement assets, life insurance and real estate. All major and cumulative gifts and pledges benefiting Javelina Athletics of $33,333 or greater qualify for involvement.

Similar to private business, Javelina Athletics heavily relies on the revenues it generates. Private support at this level of philanthropy provides the "lifeblood" for Javelina Athletics.
  6. Planned Giving - Planned gifts are great ways to make a lasting impact to Javelina Athletics while ensuring that you have needed funds during your lifetime. Planned gifts can provide benefits to you and your family such as significant tax savings and even lifetime income. Some of the options of planned giving include:
    • Current Gifts
      • Real Estate
      • Securities
      • Charitable Lead Trusts (Charitable Lead Trusts are a fund set up that provide payments to Javelina Athletics for a term of years or through your lifetime, then pays the remainder to family members or beneficiaries of your choice)
    • Deferred Gifts
      • Bequests (gifts through will or living trust)
      • Retirement plans (name Javelina Athletics as primary or contingent beneficiary for a percentage or all of your retirement plan or IRA)
      • Life estate agreements (deed Javelina Athletics your personal residence, farm, etc., but retain life use)
    • Life Income gifts
      • Charitable Remainder Trust (Charitable Remainder Trusts are a fund set up that provide you with lifetime income, then pays the remainder to Javelina Athletics)
      • Charitable Gift Annuities (A charitable gift annuity is a contract between you and Javelina Athletics that pays you a fixed dollar amount annually for life; NOTE - THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ALL STATES, please contact us for more information).
The Javelina Club, working with the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation, can help you determine the gift plan that best meets your financial and philanthropic goals.
