The 1969 Team
The 1969 Javelina golf team won the Lone Star Conference championship, captured the NAIA District 4 title and finished eighth in the NAIA national tournament. The Javelinas won the conference title by 13 strokes. They were eighth among the 34 entries in the national meet.
Bill Evans, from Sinton, was the LSC and regional medalist and was fourth in the national tournament, five strokes behind the medalist. Jimmy Miller of Edna, was fifth in the LSC tournament. Other members of the team were Chris Delcambre from San Antonio (Edison), Chris Hill of New Braunfels and Fred Hoey of San Antonio (Highlands).
Pete Murray was head coach of the Javelinas and has been inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame as a football coach. He will be inducted twice this weekend, also being enshrined as one of the coaches of the 1976 football squad.
